Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Special Education (SPED) licensure is required; verification available via the Alabama certification portal.
- Certification requirements:
- K-6 certification needed for inclusion roles.
- 6-12 certification accepted for self-contained or inclusion positions.
- Previous experience in an educational setting supporting students with diverse learning needs is highly valued.
- Strong communication skills for effective team collaboration with general education staff, families, and related service providers.
- Demonstrated commitment to individualized student goals and differentiated instruction.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct special education instruction for assigned caseloads at elementary, intermediate, and middle/high school levels, focusing on both inclusion and self-contained models.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) while maintaining timely documentation.
- Adapt curriculum resources and instructional strategies to meet students’ unique learning profiles and support access to the general education environment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including teachers, administrators, and parents—to ensure consistent student progress and compliance with state/federal guidelines.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom climate where students feel supported academically and socially.
This position is based onsite, offering the chance to engage with students and colleagues face-to-face and become an integral part of a supportive school community. The contract runs from August 2026 through May 2027, providing a stable assignment in a rewarding educational environment.
