Special Education Teacher | Pelham, Alabama

Make a meaningful impact in students’ lives by providing essential support and instruction to those needing specialized education services for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract role is based at multiple elementary and middle/high schools. You'll be part of a collaborative team devoted to fostering academic growth and personal development in a positive, inclusive environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Current SPED licensure, verifiable through the Alabama Department of Education’s certification portal
• K-6 certification required for inclusion positions
• 6-12 certification accepted for self-contained and inclusion roles
• Proven experience working with students with exceptional needs
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet varied learning styles
• Commitment to teamwork and professional growth

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Regularly monitor, document, and communicate student progress
• Adapt lessons to meet individual and group goals
• Foster a supportive, respectful, and engaging classroom atmosphere
• Participate in IEP meetings, training, and parent/teacher conferences
• Uphold district and state standards for educational excellence
