This contract role is based at multiple elementary and middle/high schools. You'll be part of a collaborative team devoted to fostering academic growth and personal development in a positive, inclusive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Current SPED licensure, verifiable through the Alabama Department of Education’s certification portal
- K-6 certification required for inclusion positions
- 6-12 certification accepted for self-contained and inclusion roles
- Proven experience working with students with exceptional needs
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet varied learning styles
- Commitment to teamwork and professional growth
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Regularly monitor, document, and communicate student progress
- Adapt lessons to meet individual and group goals
- Foster a supportive, respectful, and engaging classroom atmosphere
- Participate in IEP meetings, training, and parent/teacher conferences
- Uphold district and state standards for educational excellence
