Special Education Teacher | Pelham, Alabama

Embark on an impactful contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a virtual school program operating from a district office near Pelham, AL. This role combines the innovation of virtual learning with the collaborative support of an on-site educational community. You’ll work closely with the Special Education Director, making a difference for a small group of approximately seven students in need of personalized educational guidance.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid state teaching certification in Special Education
• Experience teaching in virtual or remote learning settings strongly preferred
• Competence in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with administrators, colleagues, and families
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment
• Background in small group or one-on-one instructional support
• Ability to work onsite at the district office as required

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to a caseload of about seven students enrolled in virtual school programs
• Develop and monitor IEPs to ensure compliance and student success
• Collaborate with the Special Education Director and other support staff in developing teaching strategies
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with district and state requirements
• Serve as a resource for students, helping them overcome educational challenges in a blended virtual setting
