An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher specializing in early childhood education within an elementary school setting located in Peoria, AZ. This full-time contract position runs through the current school year until May 21, 2026, focusing on delivering specialized instruction in a self-contained classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized educational programming for a self-contained class capped at 8 students, primarily students with high needs and autism spectrum disorder.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive IEPs tailored to each student's unique goals, collaborating closely with team members.
  • Lead and mentor paraprofessionals to ensure the effective execution of IEP objectives.
  • Facilitate and participate actively in IEP meetings, including support for 79 kindergarten transition IEP meetings starting in January.
  • Apply expertise in the STARS curriculum and utilize effective behavior support strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Maintain a consistent classroom schedule aligned with the school’s AM and PM half-day sessions and typical teacher hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Arizona Early Childhood Special Education (EC SPED) license.
  • IVP Fingerprint Card must be current and included with the application.
  • Extensive experience working with students requiring high levels of support, especially those diagnosed with autism.
  • Strong skills in instructional planning, IEP development, and facilitation.
  • Ability to effectively lead support staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
