Desired Qualifications:
- Valid and active Illinois LBSI (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement
- Professional Educator License (PEL) in Illinois
- Previous experience working with high school students in a special education setting preferred
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning needs
- Proficient in IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
- Commitment to fostering inclusive environments and advocating for student success
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for high school students
- Design engaging lessons tailored to varying abilities, ensuring access to curriculum and growth opportunities
- Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and families to support students’ academic and social-emotional needs
- Conduct ongoing assessments, track student progress, and update documentation in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Actively participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities
- Promote positive behavior support and foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment
