Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid and active Illinois LBSI (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) in Illinois
  • Previous experience working with high school students in a special education setting preferred
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning needs
  • Proficient in IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive environments and advocating for student success

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for high school students
  • Design engaging lessons tailored to varying abilities, ensuring access to curriculum and growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and families to support students’ academic and social-emotional needs
  • Conduct ongoing assessments, track student progress, and update documentation in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities
  • Promote positive behavior support and foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment
