Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by providing specialized instruction and support in an Intensive Resource Room setting for the 25/26 school year. In this contract-to-hire position, you’ll work closely with a small group of six elementary students (grades 1–6) presenting with moderate to severe needs, including Down syndrome and non-verbal autism. The classroom environment is structured to encourage learning and communication, using AAC devices and individualized plans tailored to each student.

You'll collaborate daily with a dedicated team, including paraprofessionals assisting with routines and self-care, and skilled service providers—occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and social workers—who provide both in-class and pull-out supports. Your expertise will guide these students in accessing their education, fostering growth, and building confidence.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher licensure (or eligibility) in Colorado
  • Experience working with students who have moderate to severe disabilities, especially those utilizing AAC devices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in special education instruction, behavioral strategies, and IEP development
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including paraprofessionals and service providers
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a passion for supporting diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized lesson plans for learners with significant needs
  • Utilize AAC and alternative communication approaches to foster student engagement
  • Oversee classroom routines, with support from paraprofessionals for self-care and behavioral management
  • Collaborate on IEPs, progress monitoring, and data collection
  • Foster positive relationships with students and their families
