Make an impact by guiding and supporting a small group of students who thrive with individualized attention and specialized instruction. For the upcoming 2025-2026 school year, an opportunity is available for a dedicated educator to lead an Intensive Resource Room classroom serving students with moderate to severe needs. With only six students spanning grades 1 through 6—each with unique strengths in areas such as Down syndrome and non-verbal autism—your expertise will empower learners as they develop communication skills, particularly through AAC devices.

As part of a collaborative environment, you’ll work alongside a committed team of paraprofessionals who assist with daily routines and self-care. You’ll also partner with service providers including occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and social workers who offer both in-class and pull-out support. This classroom model is designed to foster communication, independence, and engagement throughout each school day.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching license (or eligibility for licensure)
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Familiarity with AAC devices and adaptive instructional strategies
  • Strong collaborative skills for working with paraprofessionals and related service providers
  • Commitment to individualized instruction and evidence-based interventions
  • Compassion, flexibility, and a solution-focused mindset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to diverse learner needs
  • Utilize AAC and other assistive technology to facilitate communication
  • Foster a supportive, safe, and adaptive classroom climate
  • Partner with paraprofessionals and related service staff to execute individualized plans
  • Regularly communicate progress to families and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
