Step into an impactful contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher working with high school students in the South Austin area. You’ll support a caseload of about 20 students—one of the smaller groups, yet uniquely rewarding as it focuses on transition planning and graduation requirements. These students thrive with educators who approach teaching with expertise, compassion, and dedication.

Your day runs from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, alongside a collaborative team of skilled teachers committed to student success. This position places a strong emphasis on ensuring holistic learning experiences, guiding students through crucial milestones as they prepare for adulthood.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Texas Department of Education License with Special Education and Generalist/Core endorsements required
  • Demonstrated skill leading Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, including confident participation and documentation
  • Experience developing and supporting individualized education plans, particularly in high school transition and graduation processes
  • Adherence to a professional dress code: no visible tattoos, single-color hair, professional attire, and discreet earrings
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment

Duties:

  • Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students in special education
  • Coordinate and attend ARD meetings, contributing expertise and advocating for student needs
  • Collaborate with support staff, administration, and families for comprehensive educational planning
  • Maintain accurate records and timely communication regarding student progress
  • Develop transition plans and support students on their journey toward graduation and beyond
