Special Education Teacher - Philadelphia, PA

Step into a rewarding role supporting preschool-aged children with special education needs. In this contract opportunity, you will serve as an itinerant special education teacher, working within community preschools in the greater Philadelphia area. Your expertise will help approximately 30 young learners reach their fullest potential in supportive early childhood environments. You will travel to preschools throughout the community, providing individualized instruction and collaborating closely with staff and families.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid Pennsylvania certification in PK-4 and/or Special Education is required
• Experience with young children and special education preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt to multiple preschool environments and create engaging, accessible lesson plans
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere
• Willingness to learn and participate in provided guidance and initial training

Responsibilities:

• Deliver itinerant special education services to a caseload of approximately 30 preschool students across multiple community sites
• Collaborate with preschool teachers, families, and support staff to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Monitor, document, and report student progress
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet varying needs and developmental levels
• Maintain consistent communication with all stakeholders and participate in meetings as needed
• Travel between preschools within your assigned area on a reliable schedule, M-F, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
