1st Grade 2nd Grade Special Education Teacher - Philadelphia, PA

Step into a vital role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in an Autistic Support classroom for grades K–2. This contract opportunity begins as soon as possible and continues through June 11, 2027, offering a consistent Monday–Friday schedule (7:30 AM–3:30 PM) with weekly hours ranging from 37.5–40. Located conveniently near Philadelphia, PA, this position puts you at the heart of a dedicated educational community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized, evidence-based instruction to students in a K–2 Autistic Support setting.
• Develop tailored lesson plans and implement IEPs aligned with each student's unique needs and abilities.
• Foster students’ social, emotional, and academic growth through strong classroom management and positive behavioral supports.
• Collaborate proactively with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other school staff to monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation on student performance and participate in regular team meetings and parent conferences.

Desired Qualifications:

• PA Special Education certification preferred.
• Consideration given to licensed candidates from other states and those eligible for emergency certification.
• Experience working with early elementary (Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade) students in special education, particularly in autistic support environments, is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

In this meaningful role, certified special education teachers can expect an hourly rate between $42–$52, while those joining with emergency certification can earn $35–$42 per hour.
