8th Grade ELA Teacher – Philadelphia, PA
Position Overview
Soliant Education is seeking an onsite 8th Grade ELA Teacher for a contract assignment in Philadelphia, PA, for the 2026–2027 school year. This education industry position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced English Language Arts educator to support middle school students through engaging, standards-aligned instruction. The selected teacher will work directly with 8th grade students while collaborating with school staff to promote academic growth and a positive classroom environment.
Assignment Details
The position is located in Philadelphia, PA 19129, with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:50 AM to 3:50 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break. The assignment runs ASAP through June 10, 2027, and focuses on instruction for 8th grade learners. The anticipated pay range is $33.75–$47.50 per hour, with the final rate determined by factors such as experience, education, credentials, and other qualifications.
Responsibilities
The teacher will develop and deliver effective ELA lessons that address grade-level standards while accommodating varied learning needs. Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, assessing student progress, providing meaningful feedback, and maintaining accurate academic records. The educator will also establish a structured classroom environment, communicate with families and staff as appropriate, and participate in school meetings and professional activities.
Requirements
Candidates should hold a Pennsylvania Instructional I or Instructional II teaching certificate with an ELA qualification covering 8th grade at minimum, preferably with middle school experience. Soliant Education will also consider candidates with an active out-of-state credential or emergency certification who have at least one to two years of experience teaching English Language Arts at the 8th grade level. Strong classroom management skills, effective communication, and the ability to build positive relationships with adolescents are also important for success in this role.
