A full-time Special Education Teacher is needed for an early childhood special education program at an elementary school in Phoenix, AZ. This contract position runs through May 21, 2026, serving a self-contained classroom with up to eight students. The focus is on working with young learners with high needs, especially those on the autism spectrum, in a half-day program with morning and afternoon sessions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing tailored instructional plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Leading and supporting paraprofessionals to ensure effective delivery of IEP goals
  • Utilizing the STARS curriculum and applying effective behavior support strategies
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including assisting with IEP meetings for kindergarten transition students starting in January
  • Managing daily classroom activities in alignment with student developmental goals

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Valid Arizona Early Childhood Special Education (EC SPED) license
  • IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Extensive experience working with children with autism and high needs in an educational setting
  • Proficiency in IEP development, instructional planning, and behavior support techniques
  • Ability and willingness to provide guidance to paraprofessionals and support team members in IEP processes

This role is onsite only, requiring availability during full-day hours generally from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with specific session times for student instruction.
