Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching license in Special Education, appropriate for K-5 settings
  • Previous experience in elementary special education classrooms strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of individualized education program (IEP) development and compliance
  • Collaborative mindset for working with teachers, staff, and families
  • Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead special education teacher for K-5 students, ensuring high-quality instruction and support services
  • Develop and implement tailored lesson plans accommodating various learning styles and needs
  • Guide the IEP process, including assessments, goal-setting, meetings, and progress monitoring
  • Partner with the building principal, general education teachers, and support staff to promote inclusion
  • Mentor and support other special education staff, fostering best practices and continuous professional growth
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies
  • Engage parents and guardians as active partners in their child's education
