A full-time Special Education teaching position is available at a K-12 school in Pine Bluff, AR for the upcoming school year. This contract role involves providing direct educational support in both self-contained and resource settings, collaborating closely with school personnel to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement instructional plans aligned with school curriculum goals and student Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
- Create, execute, and update IEPs using diagnostic and assessment data.
- Monitor and manage classroom behavior, implementing appropriate behavioral strategies and interventions.
- Provide consultation to staff, school teams, and parents on behavior management, learning strategies, and inclusive support.
- Assist students with personal and self-help needs such as eating and toileting.
- Establish a classroom environment conducive to learning, tailored to student maturity and interests.
- Review referral and assessment data to set appropriate goals and objectives.
- Prepare students for inclusion and transition into mainstream settings.
- Employ effective instructional methods and materials to meet objectives.
- Regularly assess student progress and provide reports as required.
- Supervise and evaluate teacher assistants’ performance.
- Engage in professional development and support broader school initiatives.
- Participate in staff meetings, committees, and fulfill assigned non-instructional duties.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education.
- Valid Arkansas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the assigned level and subject.
- Appropriate Special Education endorsements.
