Special Education Teacher | Pinson, Alabama

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education professional serving school communities in the Birmingham, Alabama area. This on-site position is set to start as soon as possible and continues through June 10, with flexible assignments based on district needs. Your caseload, set to a maximum of 20 students, will be discussed to ensure your unique strengths and experience are well matched to the students you’ll support.

Strong classroom management skills and a background in self-contained special education settings are crucial to excel in this role. Supporting students with diverse learning requirements, you’ll be a cornerstone for their academic and social growth throughout the school year.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Alabama Special Education (SPED) license with the proper endorsements
• Demonstrated experience working in self-contained special education classrooms
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, administrators, and families
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet individualized education program (IEP) goals
• Commitment to maintaining compliance with all special education documentation and regulations
• Substitute certifications are not accepted for this position

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and adapt specialized instructional strategies to address varying abilities within a self-contained classroom
• Develop and manage IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Provide direct instruction and support to students, ensuring academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs are met
• Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
• Communicate regularly with families regarding progress and strategies for continued growth
• Maintain up-to-date records and participate in IEP meetings as required
