Special Education Teacher in Piscataway, NJ

An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support a self-contained classroom serving students in kindergarten through second grade within a school setting. This position focuses on working with a caseload of eight students on the autism spectrum, providing specialized instruction tailored to their individual needs. The role requires collaboration with two paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom to ensure a supportive and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized educational programs for K-2 students on the autism spectrum.
• Manage and implement classroom activities to promote student development and engagement.
• Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals and school staff to support student success.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in IEP meetings.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications:

• Active Standard or Teacher of the Handicapped license valid in the state of New Jersey.
• Experience working with young children in special education settings, particularly with autism spectrum populations.
• Ability to manage a self-contained classroom with multiple support staff.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
