Special Education Teacher in Plainfield, IL

A rewarding opportunity awaits for an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to make an impact in a middle school setting. This contract position is available for the upcoming school year, running from August 19, 2026, through May 28, 2027. Located near Plainfield, IL, this full-time role offers a dynamic workweek totaling 35 hours. You’ll start your days at 7:45am and finish by 2:50pm, collaborating closely with a dedicated team of educators.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement is required
• Demonstrated experience in co-teaching or working within a special education team
• Strong understanding of 6th and 7th grade curriculum, particularly in English Language Arts and Math
• Effective communication skills and adaptability when partnering with fellow teachers
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment

Core Responsibilities:

• Co-teach ELA and math classes for 6th and 7th grade students, partnering with two other teachers (responsibilities may include up to three ELA and two math classes)
• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to support a variety of learning needs
• Collaborate with general education staff to modify lessons and provide tailored instruction
• Track student progress, complete required documentation, and maintain regular communication with families and support staff
• Contribute to a positive classroom atmosphere that promotes empathy, independence, and academic growth

This position offers a competitive hourly rate between $40 and $50, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
