Special Education Teacher - Plainfield, New Jersey

Step into a rewarding contract role supporting young learners with autism in a K-3 classroom setting. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a key part in fostering a positive, inclusive environment for students, collaborating with a dedicated team of professionals. This opportunity runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, with consistent hours from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification for grades K-3
• Demonstrated experience working with children with autism, preferably in a school or clinical setting
• In-depth understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with staff, students, and families
• Creative, patient, and adaptable approach to meeting individual student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to K-3 students in an autism classroom, adapting curriculum to support diverse learning styles and needs
• Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Employ evidence-based strategies to promote positive behavior and academic growth
• Collaborate with classroom aides, therapists, and related service providers
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation on student progress and communication logs
• Cultivate a safe, supportive classroom where every child can reach their potential
