Step into a rewarding role supporting young adults as they build essential life and vocational skills—help guide students in an 18-21 Year Old Program designed for real-world preparation and personal growth. You’ll be part of an experienced, collaborative team working out of a community building, fostering independence and skill development side by side with two other teachers and several dedicated paraprofessionals. This contract position involves close-knit support for approximately 25 students as they engage in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification required
  • Experience working with high school transition or adult programs preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work with team members, students, and community partners
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to fostering student independence

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and support students (ages 18–21) in vocational, daily living, and communication skills
  • Supervise students in classroom, community, and workplace environments, including small-group outings to various job sites and local locations
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and paraprofessionals to deliver structured, effective programming
  • Track student progress, participate in IEP development, and communicate with families and support staff
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe learning atmosphere in all settings

Program Schedule and Structure:

  • Student contact days: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 am–3:00 pm
  • Fridays are dedicated to teacher preparation and planning
  • 37.5 hours per week with a 30-minute lunch break
