Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, bringing your expertise to high school classrooms and supporting students’ academic and social growth. Two positions are available, one focusing on 10th grade inclusion and another on 12th grade. The assignment begins with an orientation in late August and continues throughout the academic year, concluding in late June.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as grade-level liaison for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Draft and chair annual review meetings, ensuring compliance and effective communication with families and the support team.
- Collaborate with general education staff to deliver inclusive instruction tailored to individual student needs.
- Maintain a caseload of approximately 15-20 students, providing documentation, progress monitoring, and IEP implementation.
- Foster a classroom atmosphere that celebrates diversity, supports self-advocacy, and builds confidence.
- Develop differentiated lesson plans and accommodations for students in accordance with IEP goals.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Massachusetts Moderate Disabilities 5-12 teaching license (required).
- Experience supporting high school students in special education settings, preferably with inclusion models.
- Proficiency in drafting IEPs, conducting meetings, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and high-expectation environment for all learners.
Position Details:
- Contract runs from late August through late June.
- Two roles available: 10th grade inclusion and 12th grade special education.
- Work hours: 7:05 AM to 1:58 PM, offering a consistent weekday schedule.
- Manage a caseload of 15-20 high school students.
