Special Education Teacher in Poland, ME

Make a positive impact this summer by supporting students as part of an Extended School Year (ESY) program. We're seeking two dedicated Special Education Teachers to work with a high school caseload, providing essential instruction and services during the ESY term. Key Qualifications:

• Current and valid Maine teaching license (required)
• Certification and experience as a Special Education Teacher
• Understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with fellow educators, support staff, and families
• Preference given to candidates with previous ESY or summer school experience

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver special education instruction to high school students as outlined in their IEPs
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet individual needs
• Monitor, document, and report progress on student goals
• Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other ESY program staff
• Foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress

Position Details:

• Contract assignment for the duration of the ESY program
• Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 12:00pm
• Four hours daily, in-person instruction only
• Work closely with enthusiastic peers dedicated to student success
