Step into a pivotal role guiding young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained ESE classroom setting. This contract opportunity is set in a school located in the northwest region of Jacksonville, FL, with a primary focus on elementary students but the possibility to accommodate other grade preferences. The classroom will welcome students with a range of learning levels and exceptionalities as you create a supportive and structured environment for growth.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current Florida ESE certification required
  • Valid K-6 or PK-3 General Education certification
  • Prior experience as a lead teacher in a self-contained special education setting
  • Familiarity with a variety of disabilities and learning differences
  • Commitment to full on-site presence (no virtual/remote placement)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead instruction and classroom management for a self-contained ESE classroom
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
  • Collaborate effectively with staff, families, and support personnel
  • Maintain detailed records, monitor student progress, and communicate outcomes
  • Uphold compliance with state education guidelines and district policies

Additional Details:

  • Full-time contract: 35 hours per week onsite, Monday through Friday
  • Assignment will remain at a single school location; assignment details to be confirmed
  • Start date: August 3, 2026; End date: May 28, 2027
  • Required background check and fingerprinting through the AHCA Clearinghouse (process details provided upon interview)
  • Prescreen interviews will be scheduled virtually as part of the selection process
