Special Education Teacher - Portage, IN

Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education
• Experience working with mild interventions, preferably at the 5th or 6th grade level
• Strong ability to complete Teacher of Record responsibilities
• Skilled in writing IEPs and progress monitoring
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Passionate about supporting students with unique learning needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver push-in and pull-out special education services for students in a 5th and 6th grade building
• Serve as Teacher of Record, maintaining compliance with state and federal requirements
• Write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and conduct ongoing progress monitoring
• Participate in case conferences, parent meetings, and collaborate with general education teachers
• Adapt instructional techniques and materials to meet students’ individual needs
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and success
