Two contract opportunities are open for dedicated Special Education Teachers to provide resource support at the elementary or middle school level. Assignments are available at both East Leroy Elementary and Athens High School—candidates are encouraged to share their grade-level preference for best alignment.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid and active Michigan Special Education Teaching License.
• Experience supporting elementary and/or middle school students in a resource classroom setting.
• Strong understanding of IEP processes, differentiation strategies, and inclusive teaching practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff.
• Adaptability and resourcefulness in meeting varied learning needs and fostering a positive classroom climate.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans for a manageable caseload (10 students at the elementary level, 11 at the middle school level).
• Deliver small group and one-on-one instruction focused on meeting academic and behavioral goals.
• Modify curriculum and accommodations to ensure accessibility and growth for all learners.
• Monitor student progress, maintain thorough documentation, and communicate updates regularly with the educational team and families.
• Foster a supportive, empowering environment where each child feels valued and capable.
