Special Education Teacher | 1:1 Case Management

A school district in Lewiston, Maine is hiring a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year to provide individualized support through 1:1 case management. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work closely with a small caseload of students while making a meaningful impact on their academic and personal growth.

Assignment Details

• Position: Full-time; 35–40 hours per week
• Duration: 2026–2027 school year
• Caseload: 1:1 case management for ~8-10 students
• Open to traveling Special Education Teachers

Required Qualifications

• Active Maine Special Education (282) Teaching License
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
• Experience developing and managing IEPs
• Strong communication, organizational, and case management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with individualized or 1:1 special education services
• Familiarity with behavior support plans and individualized interventions
• Ability to collaborate with families, therapists, and school staff
• Passion for supporting students with unique learning needs

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of approximately 8–10 students
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Provide specialized instruction and individualized academic support
• Maintain accurate documentation and monitor student progress
• Collaborate with educators, therapists, administrators, and families
• Participate in IEP meetings and ensure compliance with all special education regulations
