Make a meaningful impact on students’ lives as a Special Education Teacher for a full-time contract opportunity serving 5th-grade learners. In this engaging and rewarding role, you’ll be part of a dedicated community committed to supporting every child’s educational journey.
As the Special Education Teacher, you’ll divide your day between one period of resource instruction and three to four co-taught or push-in classroom periods, collaborating closely with general education teachers. Your caseload will include direct responsibility for nine students but you’ll provide essential reading and writing support to approximately 15-17 students throughout the day. The school day runs from 7:45am to 2:45pm, Monday through Friday, and this opportunity is available immediately through the end of the school year.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current Rhode Island teaching license and certification for Special Education
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain a National BCI clearance
- Experience working with upper elementary students preferred
- Strong collaboration skills with both educators and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and small-group instruction tailored to student IEPs
- Work collaboratively in co-taught or push-in settings with general education teachers
- Monitor and document student progress toward academic and behavioral goals
- Support students in reading and writing instruction, targeting areas of need
- Maintain timely communication with families and school partners
