Special Education Teacher - Poughkeepsie, New York

Opportunities are available for contract Special Education Teachers to work within a variety of school settings, serving ages PreK-12 with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours. Multiple positions are open across preschool, elementary, and middle school grade levels, allowing you to bring your expertise where it’s needed most.

Ideal candidates will bring:

• Valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification in the appropriate grade levels
• Master’s degree in Education
• Previous experience working as a Special Education Teacher in school settings
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to collaborative teaching
• Flexibility to work with diverse student populations across several age groups

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
• Adapting instructional materials and methods to support students with a range of abilities
• Collaborating closely with general educators, related service providers, and families
• Assessing student progress regularly and modifying instruction as necessary
• Fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment in preschool, elementary, or middle school classrooms
• Participating in IEP meetings and maintaining thorough documentation
