Early Childhood Education (ECE) Middle School Special Ed Teacher | Poughkeepsie, New York

Step into an impactful role supporting students across a range of academic and developmental levels, from early childhood through high school. This full-time contract position provides an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students with diverse needs, within an experienced and well-supported classroom environment. The academic year begins as soon as all background clearances are completed, ending June 26, 2026. Additionally, there is a six-week summer program available for those interested in continuing their support through the break.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Special Education TEACH certification for the assigned grade level(s)
• Master’s degree in Education
• Experience working with students at varying levels of ability, including verbal and non-verbal learners
• Familiarity with classroom management and behavioral intervention strategies
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of students and the school community

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction across grade levels as needed
• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s strengths and areas for growth
• Collaborate with a team of educators and support staff in settings such as: • 12 students with 1 teacher • 8 students with 1 teacher and 3 additional staff • 6 students with 1 teacher and 3 additional staff
• Foster an inclusive, positive learning environment for students with a range of abilities and behavioral needs
• Regularly communicate progress with families and multidisciplinary teams

This position offers a consistent, supportive workweek of 35 hours. Use your specialized training in special education to guide students toward their full potential in a rewarding school-based setting.
