Exciting contract opportunity available for experienced Special Education Teachers passionate about supporting students with autism and language needs. This onsite role involves working with dedicated Language/Autism Units across multiple elementary schools serving grades K-5 near Prattville, AL. You’ll collaborate with paraprofessionals and administrators to deliver individualized, impactful instruction within self-contained classroom settings.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education licensure (SPED) for the state of Alabama (licensure can be verified through the state’s certification website)
  • Previous experience working with students on the autism spectrum or in specialized language classrooms strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and team collaboration skills
  • Commitment to supporting diverse learners and employing positive behavioral strategies

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to small groups of students within Language/Autism Units across K-5 grade levels
  • Collaborate seamlessly with a team of paraprofessionals to provide comprehensive classroom support (paraprofessional support ratios provided for each site)
  • Develop and monitor IEP goals, track progress, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Foster a safe, welcoming, and structured classroom environment
  • Utilize adaptive and assistive technology as needed to support student learning and communication
  • Partner with school staff, families, and related service providers to ensure holistic student success

You will be placed at one of several elementary schools with Language/Autism Units, each offering needs-based support and collaborative teams. This position follows a school-year calendar starting August 2026 through May 2027, with consistent weekday hours.
