Key Qualifications:
- Valid Alabama Special Education Teacher (SPED) licensure (verification available via the Alabama Department of Education website)
- Previous experience in elementary special education settings is preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Ability to develop individualized learning strategies for students with varying abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working alongside general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Flexibility to serve in different classroom environments (inclusion, self-contained, behavior units)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with elementary-aged students who require special education services across multiple classroom types
- Develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Adapt general education lessons to meet each student’s unique needs
