Special Education Teacher in Providence, RI

Step into an opportunity to make a significant impact as a Special Education Teacher working with 5th-grade students in a supportive school community near Providence, RI. This full-time contract position runs Monday through Friday, from 7:45am to 2:45pm, with an immediate start and continuing through the end of the school year.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues and provide essential educational support, including one period of resource instruction and three to four periods of co-taught or push-in services. Your primary caseload will focus on nine students while servicing a total of 15-17 students in reading and/or writing, allowing you to foster academic growth and inclusion for a diverse group of learners.

Qualifications:

• Hold active Rhode Island teaching licensure and certification as a Special Education Teacher
• Willingness to obtain a National BCI prior to employment
• Experience supporting students with varied learning needs; co-teaching or inclusive classroom background preferred
• Clear communication and organizational skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Provide push-in and co-teaching instructional support across core subjects
• Monitor student progress and collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff
• Maintain thorough and timely documentation in line with school policies
• Participate in staff meetings, IEP development, and ongoing professional development
