Step into a meaningful contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting 5th-grade students in a dynamic school environment near Providence, RI. This full-time assignment (Monday–Friday, 7:45am–2:45pm) runs through the end of the school year and offers the chance to make a lasting impact on students’ educational journeys.

You will manage a caseload of nine students, delivering direct instruction in reading and writing, and provide support to a total of 15–17 learners across the resource class and co-taught or push-in settings. The schedule includes one period of resource and three to four periods team-teaching with general educators to create inclusive, engaging classrooms.

Qualifications & Experience Sought:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification and licensure in Rhode Island (RI)
  • Willingness to obtain a National BCI (background check)
  • Experience with instructional strategies for diverse learners, especially in reading and writing support
  • Ability to adapt lesson plans and instructional methods to meet individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Proven effectiveness collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and general education staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction per IEP requirements, ensuring individualized support
  • Co-teach and collaborate with grade-level teachers using best inclusion practices
  • Manage documentation and progress reports, maintaining accurate student records
  • Communicate regularly with families and related service staff to monitor student progress
  • Foster a supportive, empowering classroom environment that encourages student growth
