Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification, applicable for grades 6-12
- Experience teaching students with a range of abilities and needs
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paras, support staff, and families
- Expertise in IEP development, implementation, and documentation
- Excellent communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained classroom for middle and high school-aged students, fostering an inclusive and engaging atmosphere
- Implement differentiated instructional strategies that address diverse learning styles and academic levels
- Collaborate with paraeducators to ensure both behavioral and educational support for each student
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress toward IEP goals; participate in team meetings to review and revise plans as needed
- Maintain a positive, structured classroom climate that encourages growth, independence, and self-advocacy
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary team members to support student development
