Special Education Teacher - Providence, RI

In this role, you’ll guide students in a “Self-Contained” or “Sub-Separate” environment, providing individualized instruction and behavioral support to help them reach their fullest potential. Qualifications and Experience:

• Hold a valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for the appropriate grade band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary)
• Certified in, or willing to achieve within one year of hire, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency (Right to Read Act compliance)
• Experience working with students with EBD or significant behavioral challenges preferred
• Strong classroom management and de-escalation skills
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation abilities
• Commitment to inclusive practices and culturally responsive teaching

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to high school students in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans
• Foster a supportive and structured classroom environment, utilizing positive behavior supports
• Collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, and related service providers
• Track student progress, maintain data records, and participate in IEP meetings
• Engage families in supporting student growth and development
