Special Education Teacher - Putnam, Connecticut

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education
• Prior experience working with middle school students preferred
• Strong understanding of IEP implementation and progress monitoring
• Ability to create a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with students, families, and colleagues
• Effective classroom management and differentiated instruction strategies

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning needs in a resource classroom setting
• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and related service providers to ensure student success
• Conduct assessments, maintain accurate records, and measure academic progress according to established goals
• Actively involve families in the educational process through regular updates and meetings
• Modify curriculum and adapt resources to align with student abilities and IEP requirements
• Foster a positive, respectful, and safe learning atmosphere that encourages student participation and growth
