Exciting opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education professionals in a supportive school environment near Putney, VT! We are seeking three passionate Special Education Teachers to work onsite for the upcoming academic year. Each position is full-time (35 hours per week) and will run from August 19, 2026, through June 14, 2027.
Two roles are based at the high school level in a new pilot program, ideal for educators enthusiastic about innovative teaching. This includes students with executive functioning challenges, Autism, and severe behaviors—some of whom participate in a nearby technical center. Your creativity, flexibility, and forward-thinking approach will help these students prepare for real-world employment and essential life skills.
The third opening is in an elementary building, collaborating with a team of four teachers. This role centers on supporting children with learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math, as well as those on the high-functioning end of the Autism spectrum. Physical and occupational therapists are actively involved to further enhance the learning environment.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid Vermont Teaching License with one of the following endorsements: Special Educator, Special Education Consulting Teacher, or Intensive Special Education Teacher
- Proven ability to work effectively with students exhibiting varying levels of need, including executive function difficulties, Autism, and behavioral challenges
- Collaborative spirit and creative mindset; adaptability in fast-evolving settings
- Commitment to preparing students for success beyond the classroom
- Fingerprinting required (current fingerprinting from another school location accepted)
