Position Overview
Soliant Education is seeking Special Education Teachers for an onsite education industry position in Queensbury, New York, approximately 45 minutes north of Albany. This is a 26’27 school year contract opportunity serving students with significant learning, communication, behavioral, and support needs. The position is ideal for an educator who is comfortable working in a highly structured setting and wants to make a meaningful impact with students requiring individualized instruction.

Position Details
Teachers will work Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. in a year-round special private school, with an anticipated start date of ASAP and a contract running through June 2027, with an option for renewal. Classrooms are self-contained and maintain an 8:1:3 student-to-staff ratio, allowing educators to provide individualized attention and consistent support. While dedicated planning periods are not built into the schedule, approved time may be available before or after the school day, up to 40 hours per week, for IEP documentation, lesson preparation, and other required responsibilities.

School Environment
The school serves students with Level 3 autism, severe cognitive disabilities, significant behavioral needs, and complex communication profiles. Many students use alternative or augmentative communication methods and may be non-verbal, while some may also have medical or additional support needs. Educators will work as part of a collaborative team focused on creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment tailored to each student's abilities and goals.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized lessons that align with students' IEP goals, instructional needs, and alternative assessment requirements. Modify curriculum, materials, and teaching strategies to support varying academic, behavioral, communication, and developmental abilities. Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, participate in IEP-related responsibilities, and collaborate with related service providers, classroom staff, and families as appropriate.

Requirements
Candidates must hold a New York Special Education Students with Disabilities license or be actively working toward New York State licensure. Recently graduated candidates with a master's degree and educators holding an out-of-state credential that requires transfer to New York may also be considered, as the school is willing to work with qualified applicants through the licensing process. A bachelor's degree is acceptable, although candidates with a master's degree are strongly preferred, along with experience supporting students with Level 3 autism, severe behaviors, alternative communication systems, medical needs, alternative assessments, or modified curricula.

Compensation and Benefits
The pay range for these positions is $36.87–$52.27 per hour, with compensation determined by qualifications, education, licensure, and relevant experience. This is a contract position with Soliant Education for the 26’27 school year and includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k plan, and weekly pay. Qualified educators will have the opportunity to work in a specialized setting while gaining valuable experience supporting students with complex educational needs.
