This full-time, contract opportunity focuses on creating an inclusive, engaging classroom for students in grades 9–12 while ensuring access to the general curriculum.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or closely related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
- Comprehensive understanding of IDEA, FAPE, IEP processes, and classroom behavior management
- Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities, including learning, emotional, and developmental needs
- Proficient communication and collaboration skills for working with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with assistive technology and inclusion strategies is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction and behavioral supports tailored to individual student needs in the least restrictive environment
- Adapt curriculum materials to support diverse learners and ensure engagement with general education content
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to promote academic and personal growth
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to foster student success
- Maintain consistent, proactive communication with families to share progress and address concerns
- Cultivate a safe, supportive, and student-centered classroom environment where all learners feel valued
