Special Education Teacher in Rantoul, IL

Make an impact this school year supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a welcoming K-3 environment. This contract position begins with the 3rd quarter on January 4th and continues through the school year, offering a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours (8:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday).

You’ll work closely with a small caseload of 4-6 students, providing specialized instruction to those with ADHD, OHI, or other disabilities and developmental delays. Guided by each student's individual learning plan, your expertise will help drive growth and build confidence in math (number identification, addition/subtraction) and reading (letter and phoneme identification, decoding CVC/CVCC/CCVC words, blends, and fluency).

What you'll bring:

• Valid teaching license with a Special Education endorsement (or eligibility)
• Experience working with K–3rd grade students, preferably in a special education setting
• Proficiency in implementing reading and math interventions for academic foundational skills
• Ability to modify instruction and materials for diverse learners
• Strong organizational and communication skills, including IEP documentation and collaboration
• Dedication to fostering a positive, engaging classroom environment

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small group instruction aligned with IEP goals
• Identify and address areas of need in math and reading foundational skills
• Track student progress and collaborate with support staff and families
• Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings for caseload students, including sessions held after the school day
• Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom climate
