Step into a meaningful role supporting elementary students as a Certified Special Education Teacher specializing in Cognitive Impairments (CI). In this full-time, contract opportunity near Redford, MI, you’ll make a lasting impact on K–2 students in an onsite setting from August 31, 2026, through June 24, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education License with endorsement in Cognitive Impairment (CI) or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), or willingness to obtain and maintain CPI certification annually
- Experience or strong interest in working with children in grades K–2 within a school setting
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Adept at tailoring individualized instruction to meet diverse learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and specialized support to K–2 students with cognitive impairments
- Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment to encourage student growth and engagement
- Regularly assess student progress and adapt strategies for optimal outcomes
- Utilize CPI techniques to promote safety and positive behaviors
- Work closely with administrators, related service providers, and classroom teachers to achieve best practices in special education
