A high school special education teaching opportunity is available for the 2025/2026 school year. This contract position focuses on delivering specialized instruction within a life skills classroom designed to support students’ individual needs and promote their independence and growth. The role involves direct, in-person engagement with a small caseload of four students, providing a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on each student’s educational journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ life skills requirements.
  • Collaborating closely with paraeducators assigned to the classroom to ensure consistent support.
  • Monitoring and assessing student progress, adapting instructional strategies as needed.
  • Maintaining compliance with state educational standards and documentation requirements.
  • Participating actively in team meetings and parent communications to support student success.

Qualifications and experience desired:

  • Maine 282 certification in Special Education is required.
  • Previous experience working in a life skills classroom or special education setting, preferably in a high school environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with paraeducators, students, and families.
  • Ability to create an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere that fosters student growth.
