Step into a meaningful role supporting middle and high school learners as a Special Education Teacher, beginning September 1, 2026, and concluding June 25, 2027. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to co-teach and provide targeted resource support in English Language Arts for students primarily in 7th and 9th grades. With a manageable caseload of 15 students, you'll have the chance to deliver personalized guidance, while collaborating closely with the wider educational team.

Bring your expertise and compassion to a Monday through Friday schedule (7:45 AM - 3 PM, about 34 hours weekly), fostering growth and achievement for each individual student. Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid New York State Educator License with Special Education Endorsement
  • At least two years of recent teaching experience preferred
  • Proficiency in writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), as well as experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity with ClearTrack for IEP and Progress Monitoring and the Woodcock-Johnson evaluation tools (Riverside Insights) is highly desirable
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage both resource room and co-teaching responsibilities for grades 7-12

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach English Language Arts and provide resource room support, focusing on 7th and 9th-grade students
  • Develop, assess, and document IEPs and participate in evaluations and re-evaluations
  • Monitor student progress and work collaboratively with related service providers
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom culture
