Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching License (Illinois or transferable state certification required)
  • Experience working with students with Autism and/or significant communication needs preferred
  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and classroom management
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and compassionate approach to education

Responsibilities:

  • At Hermansen Elementary: Lead a self-contained STLR classroom for students with Autism and functional communication needs (caseload up to 13)
  • At Martinez Middle School: Serve as a co-teacher in Supported Education with a caseload of up to 13 students
  • Implement individualized education plans and modify curriculum as needed
  • Partner closely with support staff, therapists, and families
  • Track student progress and create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
