Step into a meaningful role supporting students at the elementary level as a Special Education Teacher. This contract opportunity covers the 2026-2027 academic year, starting with pre-planning days in late July and continuing through late May. With a workday from 7:00am to 3:00pm, you’ll enjoy a balanced schedule while making a real impact on young learners’ development.

You’ll be primarily guiding students from Kindergarten to 2nd grade in a self-contained caseload of no more than 10 students. There may also be the opportunity to support one instructional segment in the upper grades, based on student needs. The students currently assigned to this role do not require toileting support and the position is not anticipated to involve significant behavioral challenges, allowing you to focus on instructional strategies and individualized education plans.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold an active GaPSC Teaching Credential with at least a P-12 Special Education General Curriculum Endorsement
  • Experience or interest in working with elementary-age children
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other educators and support staff
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Provide direct instruction to students, adapting curriculum as needed
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions accordingly
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families
  • Maintain a positive, proactive classroom culture
