What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver targeted instruction and special education services in a self-contained high school classroom.
  • Co-teach and collaborate with general education colleagues to provide inclusive educational support.
  • Focus instruction on English Language Arts and Mathematics, with additional support for Social Studies and Science.
  • Craft, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring goals and accommodations are met.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and track student progress.
  • Partner with families, administrators, and a multidisciplinary team to foster student success.
  • Champion a positive, inclusive atmosphere for learners of diverse backgrounds.

Caseload Details:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to a small group of approximately 7–9 students in a self-contained setting.
  • Collaborate during a co-taught classroom period with an additional group of 7–9 students.
  • Engage consistently with another Special Education Teacher to ensure effective program delivery and student support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Illinois LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) License required.
  • Experience with high school students in special education settings is highly valued.
  • Skilled in IEP development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with both special education and general education staff.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
