Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid certification in Special Education for elementary grade levels.
  • Experience teaching in a self-contained special education classroom, particularly with small group settings.
  • Solid understanding of differentiated instruction, behavioral supports, and communication strategies for diverse learners.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational abilities.
  • Comfort and adaptability working with both verbal and nonverbal elementary students.
  • Ability to collaborate positively with paraprofessionals, specialists, families, and administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and adapt instruction for an 8:1:1 special education class of students in grades 2–3.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with related service providers and families.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and structured environment to address unique learner needs.
  • Assess student progress, document data, and communicate regularly with stakeholders.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods and assistive technologies as appropriate.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events during school hours (8:40 AM – 3:00 PM).
