Soliant is seeking two passionate and dedicated Special Education Teachers to join a welcoming school district in Wales, Maine for the 2026–2027 school year. Open Positions:
Self-Contained Special Education Teacher (Grades K–1)
- Lead a self-contained classroom serving Kindergarten and 1st-grade students
- Provide individualized academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support in a structured learning environment
Functional Life Skills (FLS) Special Education Teacher (Grades 2–4)
- Teach students in a Functional Life Skills classroom serving grades 2–4
- Focus on developing functional academics, communication, social skills, independence, and daily living skills through individualized instruction
Assignment Details:
Location: Wales, Maine
Schedule: Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Setting: Onsite only
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction aligned with each student's IEP
- Implement, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and behavior management techniques
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and general education staff
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and educational goals
- Foster students' academic, behavioral, social, and functional skill development
Required Qualifications:
- Active Maine 282 Special Education Teaching License (required)
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
- Ability to support students with a wide range of learning and behavioral needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a self-contained or Functional Life Skills classroom
- Knowledge of evidence-based instructional and behavioral interventions
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and support staff
- Passion for creating meaningful learning experiences that promote student independence
