Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with elementary-age students with cognitive impairments and/or autism
- Knowledge of evidence-based strategies for individualized instruction and classroom management
- Strong collaboration skills for partnering with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Excellent organizational, communication, and observation skills
- Commitment to developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
What You’ll Do:
- Design and deliver individualized lessons that address the unique needs of each student
- Develop, review, and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Foster a welcoming, structured, and safe classroom environment to encourage student growth
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and team members regarding student progress and goals
- Participate in professional development and school meetings to stay informed of best practices and resources
- Provide direct instruction, behavioral guidance, and support for communication and social skills
