Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (state-appropriate)
- Proven experience working with diverse learners and a range of exceptionalities
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and support staff
- Proficiency in developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Dedication to fostering a positive, nurturing classroom environment
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing classroom and student needs
- Excellent organizational and documentation abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and implement effective lesson plans tailored to each student's IEP goals
- Provide direct instruction in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure student success
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and evaluations with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Regularly monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed
- Communicate regularly with students’ families, maintaining transparency and partnership
- Foster a supportive classroom that promotes independence, self-advocacy, and a love of learning
