Take your expertise in special education to a dynamic contract position for the 2026-2027 school year. This engaging role runs from August 12, 2026, through May 21, 2027, with daily hours from 7:40 am to 3:20 pm, Monday through Friday. Your schedule will include a 30-minute paid lunch and a one-hour paid planning period within the approximately 39-hour workweek. The assignment may support either a 3rd or 8th grade classroom—final placement will be determined prior to the start of school—and includes a combination of self-contained, push-in, and pull-out service models. You’ll support students in core subjects such as math, reading, science, and social studies.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (PK-22)
- Demonstrated proficiency in behavior management and working with students who have behavior disorders
- Experience and confidence in developing and writing IEPs independently, including setting goals and completing documentation without relying solely on team input
- Willingness and flexibility to work with either 3rd or 8th grade students based on school needs
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction across multiple subjects
- Implement and manage behavior intervention strategies
- Write and maintain comprehensive IEPs that meet both student and compliance needs
- Collaborate with general educators, related service providers, and support staff to emphasize inclusion and ensure cohesive support for all learners
