Working weekdays from 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., you’ll enjoy a paid lunch break and a dedicated, paid planning period within your approximately 39-hour workweek. The assignment spans from August 12, 2026, to May 21, 2027.
What makes this position unique is its flexibility: You may be working with either 3rd or 8th grade students, with assignments stretching across self-contained, push-in, and pull-out settings. The core curriculum includes math, reading, science, and social studies, creating variety in your daily routine and an opportunity to deploy a diverse toolkit of teaching strategies.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 (PK-22) endorsement
- Direct special education teaching experience, especially with students exhibiting behavior disorders
- Skilled in independent IEP development, including crafting individualized goals and completing full documentation (not solely team-written experience)
- Willingness and enthusiasm to work at either the 3rd or 8th grade level pending final school assignment
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction in both whole-group and individualized settings
- Support and manage diverse learner needs, emphasizing strong behavior management
- Engage in both push-in and pull-out teaching formats
- Write, implement, and track IEPs thoroughly and promptly
