Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Active Special Education Teacher certification (South Carolina or eligibility for reciprocity)
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field; Master’s preferred
- Prior experience teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities at the elementary level
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and compliance with IDEA guidelines
- Excellent communication, adaptability, and classroom management skills
- Genuine compassion for working with diverse learner populations
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to students’ specific learning and behavioral needs
- Modify curriculum and employ diverse instructional strategies to maximize student engagement and success
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure cohesive educational experiences
- Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom community
- Monitor and record progress toward IEP goals, preparing timely reports for families and team members
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing staff development activities
