Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification)
  • Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained classroom setting
  • Deep understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to differentiate instruction
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom community

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized instruction to elementary students in a self-contained classroom
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional techniques to meet diverse learning needs
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust strategies as needed
  • Collaborate with related service providers, general education teachers, and parents to maximize student success
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for compliance with state and federal law
  • Create a positive, structured environment where all students can thrive both academically and socially
